Although the Bible only mentions Belshazzar as the king of Babylon when it fell, history tells us that Belshazzar and his father, Nabonidus (sometimes spelled Nabonadius), reigned conjointly, and that “during the reign of Nabonadius and Belshazzar, events of the greatest importance occurred“ (The Story of Daniel the Prophet, by Stephen Haskell, pg. 64). This is an important point that we will look into more at a later date.
